Frequently Asked Questions
Do we have to wear costumes?
No, but it is strongly encouraged to enjoy the full extent of this immersive event!
Where can I find Regency clothing?
You can make your own (look for patterns by Simplicity, Sense and Sensibility, Laughing Moon, and Black Snail), rent (check out Scera Theatre’s selection), or buy (Amazon has a large selection, but check out Etsy as well).
When will tickets go on sale?
June 1, 2025
Do I have to bring a date for the ball?
No! We have many ladies and even some gentlemen who come by themselves. During this era, with a scarcity of gentlemen due to war, ladies frequently danced together. We will find a partner for anyone interested in dancing.
Do I have to dance?
Certainly not (though it is great fun and our teachers are excellent, so we strongly encourage everyone to try). You are welcome to watch the beautiful dancing, eat delicious desserts, stroll our fine market, or try your hand at cards and other Regency era games.
What do I do if I have food allergies?
Please contact the hosts BEFORE THE EVENT so that we can do our best to accomodate.
Is there parking at the venue?
Yes, there is a parking lot surrounding The Northampton House.
How do I get there?
While we highly suggest plugging the address into your favorite maps app, you can get to The Northampton House by taking exit 278 (the Main Street exit in American Fork). Merge onto Main Street, then turn left onto 200 W. Turn right onto 300 N, and The Northampton House will be on your left a little ways up the street.
What do I need to bring?
We recommend a phone or camera for stunning pictures, a credit card or digital form of payment for the market, and a costume that makes you feel handsome enough to tempt Mr. Darcy.
Is there an age requirement?
Due to the nature of this event and the historic venue, we ask that attendees be respectful by not running, climbing, shouting, and making messes. While we welcome Janeites of all ages, if your little Janeite is not quite ready to act the part of a proper lady or gentleman, we ask that you leave them at home for this event and instead bring them to our wonderful all ages friendly Regency Strolls in May and October.
Will there be alcohol?
This is a family friendly event. We ask that no alcohol be brought into the venue and implore guests to comport themselves in their best sober behavior. The hostesses reserve the right to dismiss anyone not following these guidelines.
Where may I store my things?
While we pride ourselves in the safety of our community and venue, we ask that you keep your belongings with you or in safe places, such as your vehicle, for the duration of the event. The hostesses and The Northampton House are not liable for lost or stolen items.
